Tiamat, the ocean goddess, gives birth to the first generation of deities In the Enûma Elish, the Sumerian creation epic. The artworks were inspired by the arts, culture, and mythology of Mesopotamia and benefited from the artistic features of the Syrian murals of Mari and Til Barsip. Figures such as animals, kings, mythological creatures, gods, and geometric and abstracted decorations in a divided composition represented religious, royal, and mythological topics.
